Saxophone Summit

Necessity is the mother of invention ~ Plato

The Saxophone Summit was a response to the need for higher level playing experiences for saxophonists. Throughout my career students past and present have sighted ensemble playing, specifically saxophone quartet as the richest experience of their playing careers. The close-knit nature of chamber ensembles allows for a more intimate and nuanced exploration of musical expression. It demands attentive listening and precise cueing, skills crucial for ensemble playing and transferable to other musical settings. The nature of chamber music requires musicians to intuitively communicate, understand and respond to each other, exemplifying the quote “the music of friends.” Chamber music reminds us that music is a medium that brings people together and helps us connect through intimate moments and exchange. The Saxophone Summit continues to be a platform for that community.
